Precincts In Prayer History Precincts In Prayer started in 2001 at Ground Zero
during the clean up of the attack on the World Trade Center. A handful of
police officers from Los Angeles and I would walk the perimeter of Ground
Zero to talk and pray and offer any encouragement to the officers on duty. In August 2002 we were in New York City for an
outreach by Mike MacIntosh called "Festival of Life". During that
week the officers we visited were
inviting us to their precincts to visit and pray with the other staff. It didn't take long to realize the great need and an
amazing ministry that was there. The day to day situations these officers are
called into are beyond words. The only one who really knows what they go
through and suffer is our God. If only
we could get the Word of God into their hands. The power of the living Word
will empower these men and women, for scripture says that God's Word will not
return void. "So
shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for
which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 At the beginning the visits were quite often but
since December 2004 a team from Calvary Chapel of Greene and Calvary Chapel
of Charlottesville, Virginia, have scheduled trips twice a year to visit and
deliver Bibles. God is opening so many doors and has blessed us with many
opportunities to pray at roll call, pray and share our faith with officers
and staff, and deliver nearly two thousand Bibles to date. With approximately
42,000 NYPD officers alone, we have
hardly scratched the surface. Although we are so geographically spread out in our
own area we are always seeking opportunity to reach out and serve the local
Law Enforcement Community. For the last five years I have worked for the
Department of Corrections in Human Resources recruiting officers and working
day to day with all their needs. The Lord blessed me with an opportunity to
stand up for my faith in a vile environment and to be a light and
encouragement to the staff. In
February 2008 I felt the Lord was leading me to resign and spend more time
with ministry work and family. Mac is still working at the prison as an Investigator
and God is using him daily. There is a great need to purchase Bibles and as long
as the Lord provides, we know the work must continue. If you have a burden
for this ministry and want to know how you can be a part of it please feel
free to contact us. Your prayers are such an encouragement to us and we
thank you for that. Stephanie Kennedy |
